What Is Copilot Cowork?

Copilot Cowork is an intelligent agentic orchestrator designed to help organizations accomplish complex business tasks by connecting and coordinating data across multiple systems. Built within the Microsoft ecosystem, Copilot Cowork enables users to work seamlessly with ERP data, emails, documents, meetings, and other Microsoft 365 services through a single conversational experience.

When integrated with the Dynamics 365 ERP apps plugin, Copilot Cowork connects directly to finance and operations environments using the Dynamics 365 ERP MCP server. This allows users to access and interact with business data alongside tools such as Outlook, Teams, Excel, and SharePoint without switching between applications.

Copilot Cowork simplifies task delegation by allowing users to describe the outcome they want to achieve. The platform then automatically grounds the request using contextual information from emails, meetings, messages, files, and organizational data to complete tasks more efficiently.

Powered by Microsoft Work IQ, Copilot Cowork understands business context by drawing insights and signals from Microsoft 365 applications. This enables it to act with the same awareness and understanding that employees use in their daily work, helping organizations improve productivity, automate processes, and accelerate decision-making across departments.

Is Copilot Cowork safe to use?

Copilot Cowork runs within Microsoft 365’s security and governance boundaries with enterprise data protection and DPA. Identity, permissions, and compliance policies apply by default, and actions and outputs are auditable.

Cowork runs in a protected, sandboxed cloud environment, so tasks can keep progressing safely as you move across devices. This is what makes execution durable at enterprise scale.
